Giving

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Matthew 6:21

it's all about generosity

God is generous and so He calls us to be as well.  Our goal is to take all that God has gifted to us, and to use it for His people and His Kingdom.  Our goal-- to leave this life empty!

What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are at and helps proclaim the Gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our time, our talent, our testimony and our finances.

HOW WE GIVE

Cheerfully.  We give with gladness and gratitude for having been selected by God to be a  part of His great plan for His world
 (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Regularly.  Because Christ's love is consistent & steadfast, so too should be our giving.  Consistency in our commitment to God is healthy & productive (1 Corinthians 16:2)

Proportionally.  All that we have, including life itself, are gifts from God that are unmerited & undeserved.  We can never 'out-give' God, but attempting to give back to God in proportion to what God has given us strengthens our connection to God and makes our desire to serve Him reflexive and intuitive (Deuteronomy 16:17)

Sacrificially.  God provides us with consistent sacrifice-- His Son-- teaching us the power that comes from sacrificial giving.  God receives our gifts, not according to size, but according to the heart of the giver (Luke 21:3-4)

What we give

Time.  Serving God demonstrates commitment as well as a sound & responsible use of all of the special attributes that He has given us (Ephesians 5:15)

Talent.  Ministry work occurs to its fullest extent only when we exercise our God-given gifts, talents & abilities. (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

Testimonies.  By giving each of us our own 'faith story', God has equipped each of us with the fuel to lead & inspire to desire to know Christ for themselves.  Your story is a gift from God that only you can accurately tell! (1 Peter 3:15)

Treasure.  We often struggle with trusting in God's ability to meet our needs.  The result is that we often adopt a mindset of self-reliance over unwavering trust in God; not realizing that our fear of lack often produces the very shortage that we fear (2 Corinthians 9:6)

Why we give

To reveal Christ's likeness in us.  God so loved us that He gave.  Giving allows the Holy Spirit to transform us (Ephesians 5:1)

To grow in our dependence on God.  When we stretch our faith through giving, we learn that our dependence rests with God and not with ourselves (2 Corinthians 9:8)

To join Jesus in His Kingdom work.  In covenant with God and in concert with others, we learn that our commitment of time, talent & resources is what ensures ministry success (Ephesians 4:12)

To share the giving love of a living Savior.  Giving and loving are never separated in the Bible; nor should they be separated in life.  Behind every act of Christ is an act of giving.  Consistent & purposed giving stands as a daily living testimony to the transforming power of God & life-changing presence of Christ (John 13:35)

To model stewardship over ownership.  God is the source of our abundance.  As owners we tend to covet, but as stewards we become channels through which the power & love of God move
(Deuteronomy 8:17-18)
